Behind abandoned lines...
Quickie doodle I did of my idea of being at the front lines of an abandoned fortress...or at least it's supposed to be one. Basic story is it's been overtaken quite a while ago, but it's left there to rot (as it already is), and nobody bothered to either rebuild it or demolish it. Hopefully, somebody will... anyway, in theory, this will be turned into a revised final layout. More on that later, as details develop...

Since you're going for a more realistic look, make sure the cylinder shaped thing is sitting well on the ground and is not wonked out as it draws your eye to it in contrast to the straight edged quality of the rest of the drawing. Seems out of place.
The skyline seems kind of clear for what is supposedly a war zone as well. You might want to rethink that (maybe smoke from oil fields in the background going into the sky).
